Privacy

PRIVACY STATEMENT.

Condast and Saight have no intention of storing any data of a personal nature on centralised servers unless specific approval has been given by individuals, companies or organisations. We feel data that can be traced back to individuals, organisations or companies are not to be shared for any purpose, with exception of legislation by national or international laws. Personal data entered into a saight database is stored locally on your computer in an encrypted format and can only be accessed by entering a login name and password.
A saight database is a file stored in the local saight directory with the extention '.cdx'.
THESE FILES ARE ENCRYPTED, BUT SHOULD NEVERTHELESS NOT BE GIVEN TO OTHERS AS THIS MAY ALLOW HACKERS TO BREAK THE ENCRYPTION. CONDAST AND SAIGHT ARE NOT RESPONSIBLE FOR ANY DAMAGE OR HARM CAUSED BY INFORMATION OBTAINED IN THESE DATABASES IN ANY FORM OR SHAPE (see Disclaimer).

The reason why Saight does provide a registration and login option is twofold:

  • It allows users to store web sites of a personal nature on the computer so that it can not be seen by other users of that computer. Think of, for instance, adult content that should not be seen by children

  • It allows the computer to optimise profiles for shared data. This data is never coupled to personal data, but rather to a profile identification code. This code is assigned to a user nickname and a specific Saight application but can not be traced to that user nickname. The code is shared amongst users in order to allow profiling algorithms to find out which users share common interests. This intelligent profiling is the heart of the saight framework provided by Condast and is used to create the suggestions tables. The user info that is stored by registration aims to assist in this profiling task by filtering on, for instance, age or address.

PLEASE READ THE TERMS OF OUR DISCLAIMER WITH RESPECT TO INTENDED OR UNINTENDED BREACHES OF THIS PRIVACY STATEMENT
